Design Republic has been opened for a couple of years, a few steps away from Colonne di San Lorenzo, one of the most sparkling areas of Milan, and it’s a new shopping space dedicated to design experts and lovers, inspired by the North-European style.
The idea was born in the minds of the youngest members of Mornata family, known in all Milan for the distribution and selling of furniture. Their objective was to develop a shop that offered a wide array of products Made in Scandinavia, with a selection of items made in Italy.
The large windows opening on Corso di Porta Ticinese give the rooms a beautiful light that perfectly agrees with the chromatic palette that characterizes the interiors: pastel colors alternating with icy white mix with LED lights letters and essential-looking furnitures.
The space is organized on many floors devoted to various house rooms: when you enter you’ll find in front of you a series of shelves full of stationery items, little ornaments and ideas for gifts cured in every detail, like colored hourglasses in many sizes or velvety pencils. On the upper floor every corner is decorated like a small room, that features a specific design line with the brands selected by the Mornata brothers.
Wood and glass are the protagonist of this little northern universe, enriched by touches of color, like the bright fabric of the cushions scattered in every room. It’s something similar to a silent refuge right in the middle of the downtown chaos where you can find for some moment an instant of calmness and tranquility, and let yourself get carried away by the relaxed vibe that every item exudes; a shopping idea capable of attracting every passer-by, capturing him with the essential and yet refined design that makes everyone to redecorate their living spaces.
