Mea Culpa – Santiago Sierra

The first Italian show dedicated to this conceptual artist

The PAC – the Padiglione d’Arte Contemporanea presents the first retrospective of Santiago Sierra, ‘Mea Culpa‘ curated by Diego Sileo and Lutz Henke and on display until 4 June 2017.

Santiago Sierra, born in Madrid in 1966, is a Latin artist with a strong personality that he has brought to the stage for over thirty years making symbolic works that offer a cruel and emotional view of our society.

Examples include the time he tattooed sex workers with lines of his work in exchange for drug does, or his performance at the 2001 Venice Biennale where he paid 133 illegal street vendors to dye their hair blonde, or to the performance where he paid performers to masturbate publicly.

This artist can express on a visceral level concepts and emotions that will forever remain etched into the minds who see them. The exhibition at the PAC shows some of the most iconic and political works of the artist from the 90s to the present day. it documents his performances around the world along with new productions and reactivations of old works.

This is a show not to be missed.
