Fashion Week is one of the biggest weeks in the Milanese social calendar, but don’t think all that glamor and style should be confined to the catwalk.
Flawless Milan looks at some of the coolest bars and restaurants from some of the coolest fashion labels.
ARMANI/NOBU
Via Pisoni, 1
If the sleek Armani/Ristorante with its views out over Milan are not to your taste, you can always try Armani/Nobu on the ground floor. The Milanese outpost of this luxury Japanese restaurant chain offers all the style and substance that you have come to expect from this powerhouse of Milanese fashion.
ARMANI/RISTORANTE AND BAMBOO BAR | ARMANI HOTEL
Via Manzoni, 31
Armani/Ristorante and the adjoining Bamboo Bar translate the understated elegance of Giorgio Armani’s design language to the culinary world. The restaurant serves updated Italian cuisine and the Bamboo Bar serves up reinterpretations of classic cocktails, all of which can be enjoyed while gazing over Milan’s stunning skyline.
BAR BULGARI | BULGARI HOTEL MILANO
Via privata Fratelli Gabba, 7b
Even if it’s too cold to make use of Bar Bulgari’s stunning outdoor gardens, the bar’s elegant interior, finished in a monochrome with even the finest of details executed with absolute precision, is a spectacular place to spend an evening, knocking back some of Milan’s most incredible cocktails.
IL RISTORANTE NIKO ROMITO | BULGARI HOTEL MILANO
Via privata Fratelli Gabba, 7b
Il Ristorante Niko Romito, at Bulgari Hotels & Resorts, is the latest opening of the multi-starred chef Niko Romito, after the ones of Beijing, Shanghai and Dubai. For the new place, the Michelin-starred Chef has studied a special menu, recreating recipes of the Italian culinary tradition in a contemporary key through a journey of the authentic Italian flavors.
BAR MARTINI AND MARTINI BISTROT
Corso Venezia, 15
Designed with input from fashion super-duo Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, Bar Martini is at once refined and understated, yet unusual and intriguing (not unlike the brand’s haute couture offerings). Whether you choose the supremely relaxing courtyard or the opulent carmine-decked indoor bar, Bar Martini offers something unusual for the discerning fashionista.
BAR LUCE | FONDAZIONE PRADA
Largo Isarco, 2
Part of the Prada Group’s sizeable portfolio, Bar Luce was designed with significant input from cult film director, Wes Anderson. Fully Milanese café style the halcyon days of the 1940s and 50s, this quirky café is as charming as Mr Anderson’s films.
TORRE | FONDAZIONE PRADA
Via Lorenzini, 14
Torre is the last jewel in casa Prada: located on the seventh and last floor of the Fondazione Prada building, here you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the city skyline and taste an excellent dinner cooked by Chef Fabio Cucchelli, who for the menu gets the inspiration from the Italian traditional dishes, especially of Milan.
CAFÉ TRUSSARDI AND TRUSSARDI ALLA SCALA
Piazza della Scala, 5
Caffé Trussardi sits adjacent to the flagship store of this Milanese mega-brand. Caffé Trussardi overlooks the famous La Scala Theatre and its bar offers an exhaustive list of high-end spirits, and a selection of fine cigars. The restaurant, Trussardi alla Scala, offers inventive updates on classic Italian cuisine
CERESIO 7
Via Ceresio, 7
With creative input from twins Dean and Dan Caten of fashion house Dsquared, Ceresio 7 has become one of Milan’s sexiest spaces. Whether you’re enjoying a crisp cocktail by one of the outdoor pools, or inside the lusciously decorated restaurant, you can be sure there’ll be plenty of opportunities for people watching.
MISS SIXTY CAFè
Piazza del Duomo, 31
Located on the first floor of the flagship store and managed by “Dal Bolognese” restaurant, synonymous of quality in the city, Miss Sixty Cafè is one of the most fashionable bar in Milan: large green leaves on the walls, pink sofas and gold-plated tables, it’s the perfect place for a mid-morning snack with a delicious pink cappuccino. For the aperitivo we suggest a Cosmolychee, a recreation of the fashion cocktail par excellence, to make you feel a little bit like Carrie Bradshaw around the city!
PASTICCERIA MARCHESI
Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II
One of the powerhouses of Milanese pastry is now under the ownership of the Prada Group, though the Marchesi family still has day-to-day control over operations. The brand perfectly balances tradition with innovation serving some of Milan’s most appealing pastries and desserts.
THE STAGE & OCTAVIUS
Piazza Gae Aulenti, 4
From edgy Italian denim designer, Replay, comes the Stage & Octavius in Piazza Gae Auelenti. Both the restaurant and the bar conjure up the glamor of Old Hollywood with extensive wood panelling, leather banquettes and brass fittings.
