Indie is a word born in the world of music and cinema to define all those realities far from the establishment of big production companies, as a shorthand for independent. Over time, the word has begun to designate a particular mood: sincere and genuine authorial aesthetics, the taste of quality craftsmanship. And in this sense, the word fits perfectly with Tibi – Bistrot Provençal, which boasts one of Brera’s best and most entertaining happy hours.

The atmosphere you feel at Tibi is warm for three reasons. The first is exquisitely aesthetic: the color red dominates the bar, from the counter to chairs and walls, making the atmosphere captivating. The second is the familiar feel transmitted by the staff, ready to answer every possible question, but also very nice to interact with. The third and last reason, finally, are the customers themselves who, flocking here for the happy hour and the evening, fill the room with a sparkling energy, like that of a collective party.

Why do you come at Tibi? The superficial answer would be: “Because you drink well”. And it is true, but there is an added value that is incalculable and strongly perceptible: the craftsmanship in all things. Skipping for now the food section, where everything you find is strictly homemade and freshly prepared in the small kitchen, every single component of the drink list has been studied and tested by the bar’s team and nothing is left to chance.

Tibi Bistrot Provençal

Tibi – Bistrot Provençal has a very strong connection with everything French, as you can tell from the name, and in its drink list you will find a small selection of champagne from the Le Jeune cellars and the crémant from Alsace and Loire, as well as the Provençal rosé. A great touch of style are the pastis, French cousins of the Italian sambuca: an aperitif liqueur with anise that is very popular across the Alps.

These two aspects of Tibi’s soul, the side of food and that of drinking, are born as complementary: the food is designed to accompany the drink, creating around the moment you enjoy your cocktail a special atmosphere that will immerse you in the French world. Have you ever experienced the thrill of accompanying a foie gras, an assiette de charcuterie, or a croque monsieur with a glass of burgundy, armagnac or pernod? At Tibi you can.

Another great reason why the Tibi is famous is for its gins. In fact, the restaurant does not limit itself to taking on French personality and ways but expresses its identity even better in the endless offer of gins (over two hundred bottles in its bottle rack) that the creativity and research of the team constantly feed, proposing new martini  and gin tonic recipes every month.

Now, the drink for which this bar has become part of the Milan’s finest is definitely the African Mule, a twist on the recipe of Gin Mule that you will not find elsewhere in the city, with its unusual touches of sage and cardamom, but, before ordering, take a look at the Martini or Gin Tonic of the Month: they are the champions, the latest creations coming from the mind of the mixologists working behind the counter and each one of their drops is worth savoring.

The rest of the cocktails that you’ll find on the list is certainly no less deserving of being tasted. It’s true that the African Mule opens the line (and rightly so) but the drink that follows, the Carolaina is just as good, and so is the Micol, with its smoky rum, the red vermouth and lavender-infused bitter; or Giass In Time with gin, lime, pink grapefruit, rose liqueur, pomegranate and bitters with cardamom. Reading the drink list, you’ll notice the strong use of syrups, infusions and natural flavors that enrich each of the cocktails with pleasant flavors, making them perfect for long drinking nights with friends.

Tibi Bistrot Provençal

In short, Tibi is a bar in Milan that other cities can only dream of. With its cocktail list that changes seasonally, always new signature drinks, a rich, freshly baked aperitif and a small menu of French delicacies, you’ll feel transported in a dimension to itself: an intimate, festive neighborhood bar that he has his feet in Milan and its head in Provence.
