5 Ideas for How to Spend March 8 with Your Girls

How to Spend Some Quality Time with the Squad

Stuck for ideas of how to spend Women’s Day 2017? Here are five ideas for spending quality time with your friends that don’t involve a greasy male stripper gyrating in front of you.

Manet Exhibition at the Palazzo Reale

Festa Della Donna Women's Day

Kicking off today is the eagerly awaited Manet exhibition – ‘Manet and Modern Paris‘ at the Palazzo Reale which runs from today until 2 July. More than fifty works will be presented by the history-making impressionist artist, not only of Paris, with its humanization of the the bourgeoisie. After the show you can enjoy the good weather we’re currently experiencing by walking from the Duomo to San Babila. Stop in for dinner on the top floor of the Brian and Barry Building to the restaurant, Asola, where the chef Matteo Torretta will delight you with his delicate specialties. Close the evening with a cocktail at Terrazza 12 on the top floor of the building.

The Bodyguard – Teatro Nazionale

Festa Della Donna Women's Day

Don’t miss the musical of the moment, The Bodyguard, showing at the Teatro Nazionale. This version sees the wonderful Kevin Costner part played by Italian Ettore Bassi. Leave the theatre without a voice from having sung along with “I will always love you”. Rest your vocal chords with a refreshing mojito from Bomaki by Raffaello Sanzio, where you can find, among other things, the most spectacular gluten free uramaki in Milan. Best to book ahead to avoid disappointment with this one.

Spa Evening

International Womens Day Festa Della Donna

The QC Terme Spa in Milano in Portana or the Hammam Rose or the Aspria Harbour Club are perfect places to relax in, each with their own location, budget and theme. At the spa you will feel pampered, spoiled and beautiful! Guests can dine on site, or opt for a soft apertivo, and or decide whether to go recover the calories lost in the sauna by Giulio Pane e Ojo, at La Cozzeria or at Don Juanito not far from the Piazza Medaglie d’Oro.

Pyjama Party

International Womens Day Festa Della Donna

You could do all of this in your own home with your friends, setting up your own spa with your own creams and lotions, and ordering sushi via Foodora, or organizing a dinner using the app Eatwith, like Valeria Merlini. Alternatively disconnect the phones and treat yourself to a Sex & the City marathon with some ice cream in front of the tv. Dress code? It has to be those long pink Hello Kitty socks you wouldn’t be caught dead in.

Muro delle Bambole – Via de Amicis 2

International Womens Day Festa Della Donna

Looking for an experience to share with your friends the significance of International Women’s Day? Go visit the Wall of Dolls in Via De Amicis 2 from the 15th to the 19th. The exhibit is by nonprofit organisation Open Air which stands against violence against women. Jo Ring, creator of the project, will be interviewed in the afternoon, along with Eleonora Giovannini, author of ‘Le Donne e Il Dolore’ (Women and Pain), a book about violence against women and self defence. A useful idea might be to organize a small group of women to learn a few moves in Muay Thai.  Not far from Via de Amicis is Seven Gym headed by Giuseppe Stracuzzi, in via Burigozzo 9 (cit 7). Contatto Tel 338 2127433. Definitely recommended!
