The pleasure of small gestures, of daily affections, of authentic feelings: Hygge is all this and so much more. Hygge is a type of lifestyle that arrives to Milan from Denmark in a restaurant that opened this autumn in via Sapeto. The Danish term “Hygge” describes both a state of mind and a concept of living based on searching a more peaceful and harmonious relationship with the atmosphere surrounding us. Needless to say that in this namesake local they perfectly nailed the Hygge spirit.
The location follows the mood that inspires its concept: it’s not far from the Colonne but places in a secluded position and away from the buzz of nightlife, Hygge welcomes its guests (we dare not say customers, since this place is so welcoming) with the smiles of the owners and a thousand shades of wood colors. A refined and at the same time intimate environment is at the base of the concept of “hygge”: comfortable and beautiful enough to keep the noise of the world away.
The warmth that surrounds those who enter the front door hits at first glance and conquers as soon as you discover the wall on which everyone can leave comments, advice, memories related to their travel adventures in the form of polaroids. And then there are the many untranslatable words hanging here and there that gives the idea of a world enriched through everyone’s experiences and culture.
The definitive confirmation, however, takes place once you take your seat: it’s love at the first taste. Hygge’s brunch (in regular or vegan version) is presented on a tray full of delicacies, a delight both for the eyes and for the palate. Personally: we had stars in our eyes when we saw the poached eggs with salmon!
The restaurant is opened from Tuesday to Sunday, from 8 AM to 18 PM for breakfast and lunch, while for the snack you will find a selection of filtered teas and coffees. Prepare to smile: Hygge gives life a better taste.
