A must-visit destination for the weekend for a delicious break after a walk through the streets of the historic center of Abbiategrasso is definitely the Pasticceria Besuschio in Piazza Marconi, a place where the tinkling of the teaspoons, the sweet scents and the light buzz of conversations in the background seems to have the magic power to stop the hands of the clock, and immediately become the perfect frame to spend a pleasant moment of relaxation at any time of day, from breakfast, to the afternoon snack.
Open since 1845, this bakery is a trustworthy spot and an essential experience for all pastry lovers. Even the Gambero Rosso Guide, from 2013 up until today, has awarded it every year with the Tre Torte Award (Three Cakes Award), which is given only to the best Italian pastry shops.
The counter, with its shapes and colors, represents a blend of modernity and tradition: from typical abbiatensi sweets, to reinterpretations of great classics, without forgetting the refined miniature pastry and the extraordinary creations in artisanal chocolate signed by the maître chocolatier Andrea Besuschio. Firmly rooted in his origins and territory, but able to constantly renew himself, Andrea seeks perfection through a daily work of study, research, experimentation, which flows, season after season, into original creations.
The must try of Besuschio? Panettone, a dark chocolate plum cake with roasted cocoa beans called Porfido, crakelé with chestnuts from Val di Susa, candied lemon, Tahiti vanilla and Tonka bean, the classic pan meino to be tasted strictly with cream, the historical Abbiategrasso sweet Pagnotta di Fraà with cornmeal, honey and figs and many other delights, of which Andrea still preserves the recipes, hand-written and handed down from one generation to the next. You cannot miss the famous “Besuschino“, a coffee cream with milk foam, obviously, accompanied by the inevitable 66% dark chocolate spoon.
Perfect to meet the friend of a lifetime that you didn’t see for some time or when you have that uncontrollable craving for sweet typical of the winter months, but also to buy a nice gift (not only to the taste, but also to the eye, thanks to the beautiful gift packagings). Among other things, the Besuschio patisserie also houses a wine shop, strongly desired by Andrea, who is also an expert sommelier: in short, a refined laboratory of taste to be discovered!
