If, like me, you love New York and you love Milan, then you’re going to love STK. STK offers the perfect New York evening, which up here among the rooftops of Milan, somehow feels even more international.
Having started in America, before moving to Europe and conquering London, STK (part of ‘The One’ Group) has set its sights on the city of the Madonnina. Could it be any other way?
The concept combines a refined steakhouse with an elegant lounge. STK offers fine dining and entertaining, straddling both offering a top notch culinary experience with clubbing other social events. Always precise but never predictable, and definitely non-conformist, STK offers a classic American steakhouse, with some revisions.
The restaurant, with its refined design is distinctly Milanese, as is the quality of the food and the attentiveness of the service staff – never intrusive and always prepared.
Whether you’re there for an aperitivo, sipping innovative and delicious cocktails, dinner, or an after.dinner party checking out STK’s DJ-set, it’s a worthwhile experience.
Executive chef Makram Khoumachi brings plenty to the table, offering fine cuts of meat, all certified USDA (keeping in mind less than 2% of all meat is certified this way) an d a wide choice of fish and vegetarian dishes. Alfonso Mangiaracina will be able to help you find the perfect wine to match from the impressive STK cellar.
The meat though is the undisputed star of the menu, whether you’re looking at the starters (including the exquisite ‘lil burger’ of Wagyu beef, or the meticulously presented cuts of beef on offer. In short, the flavors are strong, the cuts are tender, tasty and the entire restaurant is a skillful union of American and Italian culinary philosophies in the presentation of the food, which is a real feast for the senses.
Not to be undervalued are the sauces (there are9 to choose from) that will make your dish, or your sides (chips with truffles and parmesan are definitely worth trying, as are the spicy sour carrots and the mash potato) sing. There is also the wide range of raw fish and salads for those who don’t really love meat.
And no, I haven’t forgotten the desserts. There are plenty to choose from, between the STK Snickers (salted caramel and toasted hazelnut), STK Ice (a mini ice cream cone with sorbet), Panna cotta, and Millefoglie. It was a real pleasure discovering this place, that you can bet on.
