We have already talked about Pourquoi Pas and how its owner, the paper designer Francesca Meana has created a space that represents her, a creative forge able to collect and enhance her dreamy works of paper and also give voice to the creations of other emerging artists.
Every season, Francesca changes the pieces of her atelier proposing her latest creations in harmony with works and productions of designers in line with her philosophy, her aesthetics and her point of view on art. The autumn season highlighted the arrival of blueprints from Pourquoi Pas.
It’s impossible not noticing them. As soon as you pass the entrance, in fact, the blue of the works on the walls can only catch your attention. Francesca arrives up to the mountains to make some of the biggest and most scenic blueprints.
Thanks to a water-resistant support in milk or cotton fiber and a chemistry sensitive to ultraviolet light, it’s created a magical works often inspired by the beauty of nature. By overlaying the plants with plants, leaves or negatives and exposing the support to the sun, the latter impresses it by coloring the “canvas” of a vivid and deep blue.
Francesca’s aim is starting from digital photography and bring it back to a totally unique artisanal dimension. Washed and dried the support, in fact, Francesca works with golden and bronzed colors on the result of the cyanotypic process. The inspiration comes from the same natural elements as the ancient Japanese art of Kintsugi, a practice that consists in exalting the fractures of broken objects with the use of a golden or silver glue.
To color Pourquoi Pas, in addition to the blueprints, also the last Nebbie created by Francesca with Parisian, New Yorker, Milanese backgrounds or that recall the atmospheres and landscapes of Tim Burton’s films. And still jewels that tell stories, beautiful photographic books and the original lamps of the Sardinian designer of Tictoc Studio.
We like to tell you in advance the announcement that on November 10th and 11th, Pourquoi Pas will host an event in collaboration with SciàScià, a Venetian brand that will exhibit and sell its unique craft productions. Coats, jackets and capes made sartorially with precious fabrics and refined details.
