Floralia

The "Floral Chic" event marking spring's arrival

The arrival of spring in Milan is announced by the fixed appointment of Floralia, the first “floral chic” event on the calendar. Colors and scents from all over Italy bloom in Piazza San Marco, which from piazza-jewel of Brera turns into a bouquet square.

Floralia 2019 - Milano

For a whole weekend, the beautiful church square becomes a colorful outdoor market that hosts flowers otherwise impossible to admire in the center of Milan. In the center you will find a refreshment tent with delicious homemade and organic foods, with an inviting aroma. It doesn’t end here! You can access the premises adjacent to the basilica, to visit a multitude of stalls with delicious little dresses, straw hats, ceramics, linens, jewelery, vintage items and bric a brac.

Given the privileged location of the event, the occasion also becomes cultural. During Floralia, the Amici di Brera will present the two largest paintings in Milan by Crespi and Procaccini, which can be viewed through free guided tours at 3 pm, 4 pm and 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Cut flowers and vegetable plants, from the best specialized nurseries of the peninsula, create a colorful mosaic in the central Brera district: hydrangeas, roses, dianthus, succulents and orchids blend with the architecture of the square, making this event unmissable for enthusiasts and those who complain about the absence of greenery in the streets of the capital.

To buy lavender this year you don’t have to go to Provence! Floralia offers for purchase essences and organic healing products, with the unmistakable scent reminiscent of the French countryside. In the churchyard, the inevitable food contest, with delicious prizes for everyone!

forte forte

Via Ponte Vetero 1, 20121 Milano

I recently experienced more proof of the close link between art and fashion: a union that almost ends up becoming an identity. I was walking in Via Ponte Vetero, in the heart of Brera, in one of my favorite areas of Milan, that sort of small romantic-looking village. I stopped in front of the shop windows of [...]

The new spring Fishbar de Milan menu

Per leggere l'articolo in italiano, clicca qui. Combining the word "sea" with "Milan" may sound strange to many. Yet, the city of Milan has a “maritime” soul unknown to most: the wholesale fish market in Milan is in fact the most important in Italy and among the most modern in Europe, sanding out for the quantity, [...]

ottod’Ame

Via Solferino 1, 20121 Milano

ottod’Ame's Made in Italy is pure and plays with silks, wools, cottons, lace and leather mixed and revisited with care and creativity. Let's start with the rather evocative name that lends itself to different meanings: as Silvia Mazzoli herself, creator and designer of the collections says, it is a brand with a double flavor, combining [...]
