Klimt Experience

A 360-degree immersive experience offering a unique journey that allows visitors to discover an era

From July 26, 2017 to January 7, 2018, Milan’s MUDEC museum will host one of the most engaging exhibitions dedicated to Gustav Klimt, the famous Viennese artist behind, among many other works, the ultra-famous “The Kiss.”

This is a particularly engaging exhibition because it is different from the typical art shows we’ve become accustomed to: the show at MUDEC will allow visitors to immerse themselves in the works and the life of the artist thanks to the use of new technologies.

Images, photographs, colors along with music by Mozart, Strauss, Wagner and Bach will accompany visitors on a journey that will allow them to learn more about and experience the atmospheres of Vienna at the end of the nineteenth century and beginning of the 20th century, which is the period that inspired Klimt in creating his pieces.

The objective is to offer an exciting, moving and fascinating experience for young and old who will be able to learn more and understand the circa 700 paintings in the cultural and historical context in which the artist lived. This will allow visitors to better understand the painter’s choices and visual style as well as to enjoy the most striking details of the paintings.

Inside the “experience room” the public will be completely immersed in how the pieces were made: the walls, ceiling and floor will be like a multimedia canvas that will fully involve visitors in the artistic experience.

This world made up of symbols and brushstrokes has been recreated using sophisticated technologies. Thirty laser projectors will show images on large screens boasting 40 million pixels. This will make for better viewing of the Full HD properties thanks to the Matrix X-Dimension system.

The same technique is to be utilized not just for the paintings but also for the photographs and images from the era, allowing visitors to be immersed in the life, sounds, and the look of Vienna, which was experiencing a complete artistic and cultural renaissance at the time.

Therefore, the Gustav Klimt show will not be a simple exhibition. It will be a live experience with dreamlike qualities that visitors can enter into, allowing themselves to be swept up in the colors and sounds one of the of the most emblematic and symbolic artists of twentieth-century art.
