Funky Table

In the 5 Vie district, a paradise for lovers of bizarre decor

The 5 Vie district, a crossroads of the city that dates back to the Roman times, is the area between Sant’Ambrogio and the Duomo where five streets converge in the same point linking artistic and cultural heritage and design in the hidden Milan. Among cloisters, courtyards, museums and churches, in via Santa Marta 19 there is a kaleidoscope of colors called Funky Table.

Funky Table - Milano

After careers devoted to marketing, fashion, interior design and publishing, Mariangela and Cristiana, two sisters of Veronese origin, have decided to open an eccentric space where they brought their inspiration, research and an eclectic aesthetic taste made of travel, meetings and multifaceted experiences. The shop windows of Funky Table are always sui generis. Simulating exotic gardens and zoos, corners of South America and African souks, they anticipate some of the original items that can be bought in the shop.

Entering you can go on a real journey through time and around the world thanks to the patchwork of styles and the heterogeneous suggestions of exhibited objects. Funky Table is a paradise for home decor lovers and especially for non-conventional mise en place fans. Props and tableware, kitchen and home items denote different personalities and invite out-of-the-line matches.

The styles are in fact the most disparate: gipsy references to pop inspirations, exoticism and kitsch, all fused in a colorful amalgam that never feels too much. As diverse are their origins: milagros that recall Mexican spirituality, the famous Sicilian moorish heads, Portuguese crockery, Neapolitan talismans against the bad luck, Indian hand-painted jugs and even Chinese, English and African accessories.

At Funky Table you can find endless ideas for your gifts: colored tableware in melamine, serving dishes with ironic or motivational phrases, the very popular kintsugi kit, which is a golden glue to repair and restore life to broken ceramics and tableware personalized with your initials. All the pieces emanate the passion of the owners for unique and unusual objects, artisanal, sophisticated and niche accessories that offer a new concept of mise en place.

The idea underlying the research and selection of Funky Table, in fact, is that of an aesthetic and a table that dares, mixes and entertains. It’s no coincidence that together with the design brand Bitossi Home, Mariangela and Cristiana have created a line for the house called ‘La tavola scomposta’ presented during the last Design Week. Uncoordinated pieces that underline that in matters of decor ‘everything is worth’, as one of the dishes in the collection mentions.

We can't. That's why every week we share the best experiences
Milan has to offer.
