Don’t be fooled by the name: Giacomo – Tabaccheria will win you over even if you are not a smoker. Of course, you can find cigars, cigarettes and various accessories, but there are many other reasons to visit Via Sottocorno 5.
For example, I come here for breakfast when I want to treat myself. The brioches are sublime (they come from the adjacent Giacomo Pasticceria … if you have never tried its desserts, you don’t know what you’re missing!). The atmosphere is warm and charming, with an “old Milan” atmosphere. It really seems to take you back in time to an classic old time shop.
Even the aperitif is a great excuse to go to Giacomo – Tabaccheria: what could be better than a glass of wine at the (small) counter of this grocery store from past to really get away from the chaos after a day’s work? Forget the cheap buffets, from Giacomo – Tabaccheria the aperitif is accompanied by “bocconi”, a Milanese version of tapas: delicious gourmet plates with refined and quality products.
Giacomo – Tabaccheria is open every day from 8.00 am to midnight, so all hours are good for a coffee or a snack. Even better, it is also possible to buy a wide range of high quality gastronomic products to satisfy and surprise even the most demanding palates. Pasta, cheese, salami, preserves and various delicacies are all selected by Giacomo himself and personalized with his own label.
The demiurge of this sophisticated retro-style shop is Giacomo Bulleri, or simply Giacomo, the now famous Tuscan restaurateur of origin but Milanese by adoption. He has established two restaurants in Milan – Da Giacomo and Giacomo Arengario -, a bistro, a rotisserie, a cafe and the aforementioned pastry shop that is a guarantee of taste, refinement and quality.
A place that has no equivalent in the city. Escape from the chaos of the city for gourmet shopping, a quality snack or simply to treat yourself in a unique and special atmosphere.
