The Design Week 2018 has finally arrived and as usual Milan is ready to conquer the title of design capital. For years now, for both the Milanese and tourists, this is one of the most awaited weeks of the year: the Lombard capital is full of life, unusual locations welcome hordes of curious people and the metro is invaded by visitors who run between the various districts.
At the 57th edition, the Design Week awaits more than two thousand exhibitors from all over the world and a crowd of industry professionals and design addicts is ready for the most important international event in the universe of design and furniture.
The task of animating the life of the city’s neighborhoods is instead the co-star of these dynamic days, the festive soul of the Design Week. The Fuorisalone has a rich program of events that will animate every district: happy hours, parties, installations, exhibitions and initiatives in the name of food for a total of more than a thousand events in less than a week.
Nature, environment and sustainability are the guiding themes of this edition, which, like every year, will explore also related sectors such as fashion, art, food and technology. The Fuorisalone calendar is full of events that will invade and point the spotlight on all corners of the city, the now consolidated districts and new metropolitan areas that don’t intend to miss the call of the Design Week.
Some main areas: Brera, the most historic district of Fuorisalone, that this year animates the streets with the theme “Be human. Design with empathy “; Tortona with all its showrooms, and the brand new Ventura Lambrate & Ventura Centrale. The program schedule is super dense with initiatives and it’s often difficult to navigate the proposals of the various districts to experience the best of this week.
That’s why here at Flawless Milano, we comes to the rescue as a compass to signal unmissable events and locations to fully enjoy the festive atmosphere that Milan offers in these days. We have selected for you some spaces and events present for the duration of the Design Week, our favorite brands at the fair and you will find a daily small guide to the must-go appointments.
If you want to play in advance we suggest two pre-salon proposals that will prepare you for the sparkling mood of the week both on April, Monday 16th.
ATELIER EMÉ – FARFALLE DI LUCE
Atelier Emé organized “Farfalle di Luce“, a cocktail party with live performances by Jasmine Pradissitto. From 6 pm to 8 pm at the Atelier’s private space in Vicolo Giardino, 1 the British artist will illuminate the boutique with the chromatic games of her butterfly sculptures positioned between the optical white of wedding dresses.
CITTAMANI – DESIGN IN FOOD
Cittamani, the restaurant of contemporary Indian cuisine, instead, in collaboration with Smeg starting from 7 pm, proposes “Design in Food”, a cocktail and design party. During the event a showcooking and the presentation of Nariyal, a signature drink dedicated to the evening.

BVULGARI. Reinventing (Design) Rules by StorageMilano, Ivan Navarro and MVRDV.
In via delle Erbe 2, from 11 am to 8 pm, an installation in the heart of the Brera district takes guests on an immersive 3D adventure.
LIFE IN VOGUE. A reflection on the way of living contemporary office.
On the occasion of the Design Week the offices of Vogue Italia change look thanks to eight international designers and open their doors to the public. Every day from 12 pm to 20 pm in Piazzale Cadorna, 5 (by reservation only).
SPAZIO RIVAVIVA MILANO
At the Spazio RivaViva, in via Luigi Porro Lambertenghi 18, there’s the opportunity to visit the “Project Gardens” by Claudia Zanfi and to express your vote in the eco-challenge between designers from Milan and Sarajevo.
KITONR e ROBILANT + VOENA. The elegant man from Van Dyck to Boldini.
Kiton’s Milan office opens its doors to an exhibition dedicated to male elegance in international painting in via Pontaccio, 21. The exhibit will take place on April 17th, from 11 am to 4 pm, while on the other days of the Fuorisalone from 11 am to 9 pm.
SPAZIO ROSSANA ORLANDI
An unmissable stop in via Matteo Bandello 14/16 with a focus on the green economy, an installation by Google in its debut at the show, many great design names and two dining options: the VIP Coffee Bar by Illy and Aimo and Nadia’s BistRo .
LITTLE ITALY da CASA MIA – COCKTAIL BAR E BISTRÒ
In Viale Regina Giovanna, 22 from April 16th to 30th, Casa Mia will double as an art location with the “Little Italy” exhibition of paintings by the artist Marco Manuli.
MAKE A DISH/MAKE A WISH da 28 POSTI
In via Corsico, 1 the bistro presents the new capsule collection created by the meeting between chef Marco Ambrosino and Odo Fioravanti in a culinary journey made up of six different objects/dishes.
ARCHITECTS MEETS PEOPLE
The most original characters of the Milan Design Week told day to day with a polaroid by international architecture firms. Every day at the Spazio H2Otto in Via del Crocefisso, 27 from 7 pm to 9 pm.
NORMANN COPENHAGEN da DESIGN REPUBLIC
Inside the new showroom in Piazza Tricolore, 2 the new collection of the Scandinavian brand Normann Copenhagen will be presented.
DANIEL CANZIAN e IMPAGLIANDO DESIGN. Noi in Laguna
In the dehors of the restaurant Daniel in via San Marco corner Castelfidardo an installation takes place that between reeds and marsh grasses hides a table and some seats created ad hoc for the occasion by Impagliando Design.
MI-ORTO
At Eataly Milano Smeraldo a project of urban agriculture: a shared vegetable garden open to everyone, citizens and passers-by with a rich calendar of workshops, readings and visits.
JOY DESIGN da IL SANTA BISTRÒ MODERNO
The bistro in Via Melchiorre Gioia, 37 becomes a place of exchange and dialogue on art and design thanks to the presence of the works “OrtodiSegni” by Margherita Premuroso and to the installations by Stefano Rossetti.
TIMBERLAND ed ELENA SALMISTRARO. “Don’t call me… Dafne”
The subject of the interactive installation in Piazza XXV Aprile is the reinterpretation of an oak, a symbol of energy and life that has always been the emblem of the brand.
CARTIER LEGENDARY THRILL
At the Caselli Daziari, in Piazza Sempione 2, a large installation by the Giò Forma studio recalls the myth of the Santos clock by dialoguing with the city. Tuesday to Saturday from 10:30 am to 7 pm and on Sunday from 10:30 am to 4 pm.
TISSOT. Design is automatic
The Swiss watch brand celebrates the thirtieth anniversary of the Tissot Sottsass watch with an exhibition open to the public at the boutique in Corso Vittorio Emanuele II 5, from 10 am to 8 pm.
VANITY FAIR GREEN HOUSE
From 10:30 am to 10:30 pm in via Tortona, 35 a green oasis of relaxation, beauty treatments, design, food and dialogue. The delights of Vanilla Bakery will also be present.
ONLY THE BEST. Super Design Show
At the famous Superstudio Più in Via Tortona 2, on registration it’s possible to visit the projects that the art director Cappellini has chosen to represent the guiding thread for 2018: excellence in the field of design.
UNSCENT- 3D Perfume Anatomy
Everyday from 10 am to 8 pm, an exhibition inside the Avery Perfume Gallery boutiques, at Excelsior and in Corso Como, where perfume is intertwined with artworks of young italian talents in a sensory experience between fragrances, glass, botany and textiles.
