Okja

The pink place that brings the best of Korean streetfood to Milan

There is a new address a few steps from the Darsena and the Navigli, which combines in a small venue three trends that go crazy on social media: pink, street food and the Asian cuisine. Okja is the new pink place arrived in Milan that introduces us to the spicy world of Korean street food.

Okja - Milano

A real mecca for all the pink addicted: at Okja, in fact, everything is characterized by shades of pink, from dishes to menus, from seats to neon walls. The perfect pastel scenography for your next Instagram photo and (spoiler) even the bathroom is among the most photographable in Milan with its vegetable pattern on a background – guess – pink. Few tables and some stools at the counter, minimal mise en place for a tasty meal towards culinary horizons far from the local flavors.

Okja - Milano

In menus only authentic recipes of the Korean culinary tradition of street food to eat at the pink sofas or take-away. It starts strictly with an entrée offered by the house: kimchi, a tasty local recipe based on fermented cabbage and spices. Don’t be intimidated by the names of the dishes, difficult to pronounce and unknown to the most. Let be recommend you the must have of the house, the dishes to taste absolutely to try flavors and scents typical of k-food.

Okja - Milano

The Korean fried chicken is the most popular. Fried chicken with vegetables and spices. Choose the portion, the condiment between soy, spicy sauce and honey and accompany it with a good beer (strictly Korean). The chicken is, in fact, one of the most consumed ingredients in Korea and its fried version has become, in recent years, a real highlight so much that many restaurants have specialized in combining beer and fried chicken. Don’t expect an American fried chicken: spice and consistency are completely different.

Okja - Milano

The bibimbap is a bowl served on a hot plate in which to mix meat, vegetables and eggs. All accompanied by a red and very spicy sauce. Kimbab, the Korean variant of the sushi roll with vegetables, tuna and rice wrapped in a sheet of Kim, the dried seaweed, is super photographable and better known to our palates. If you still have space for dessert and, above all, if you haven’t yet taken enough photos to update your gallery, order the mini rice cakes: delicious small pastries of rice in pastel shades.

Okja - Milano

Do not worry, you do not necessarily have to be pink lovers to try out Okja’s specialties. If you appreciate Asian cuisine and you are always looking for the ultimate ethnic address in the city, you must write it down absolutely on your agenda before the rumor spreads and the instagramers take it by storm!

We can't. That's why every week we share the best experiences milan has to offer.
