When you find yourself in the centre of Milan, legs aching from a long day of shopping, stomach panged with hunger, you’re left either on your feet tucking into a slice of focaccia from Princi, or settling for one of the countless tourist traps in Piazza Duomo.
Its near impossible to find a quality ‘posticino‘ (an Italian word meaning little place) in the centre of town – a place for where you can have a quick but proper lunch and make audible conversation without breaking the bank.
Brothers Tancredi and Alberto Alemagna, famous for their brand of pralines and chocolate, bring us exactly what central Milan needed, in the form of T’a Store and Bistrot.
Sheltered from Piazza della Scala and a stone’s throw away from Palazzo Clerici, T’a is the perfect place to escape to any time of day. Treat yourself to the first coffee of the day, or tea and a cheeky pastry with friends, or even an aperitif in the evening. T’a’s clean lines and modern aesthete will ensure that whenever you choose to visit you will be welcomed by calming atmosphere.
The menu offers something for all tastes, vegetarian dishes, salads, tartare for those who prefer something light, or hamburgers and club sandwiches for the ravenous. The Milanese risotto never disappoints, and the larger main courses are sure to satisfy.
No visit to T’a would be complete without sampling the desserts on offer. Definitely worth trying is one of the award winning chocolate boards – the white chocolate with Hawaiian salted caramel comes highly recommended!
Treat yourself to a little break in one of the few ‘posticini’ left in the centre of town today.
