Within an urban and mostly residential area, hidden at the end of a street similar to many others, an imposing wrought iron gate gives access to a small paradise perched on the Como hills. Tenuta de l’Annunziata is an oasis of peace just a few kilometres from Milan, precisely in Uggiate Trevano (CO), on the border between Italy and Switzerland.
Here watches, city’s chaos, speedy walks and phones are banned: the key word is relaxation, both for body and mind. The estate, dating back to 800, was bought in 2007 by the Pezzoli-Guffanti family and converted into an impressive structure surrounded by greenery with hotel, restaurant, wellness area and meeting room. A complete restoration attentive to the nature of the place: inside, natural materials such as oak and chestnut wood, stone, linen, hemp and jute canvases embellish a place full of charm and converse with the large windows that open onto the park surrounding the estate.
Dominating the scene there’s a tower that stands on the estate, a nineteenth-century architecture testament of the place: rustic plaster revealing the original structure in local stone, red brick finishes running around the windows and decorative motifs according to the local tradition. On the ground floor large windows, framed by pointed arches, overlook the terrace.
Twenty rooms, from standard to superior and deluxe, which match the personality of the place, refined and elegant, comfortable and well finished in every detail, with a private balcony and spacious bathroom. The feeling that time is suspended shows itself when we reach the terrace of the estate with a breathtaking view: a panorama that encloses the sight from Como, with the Brunate lighthouse, to the unmistakable skyline of Milan and the nearby Switzerland.
The roof terrace itself hosts the restaurant of the estate, a mix of traditional cuisine and attention to the genuineness of the dishes, where you can dine by the candlelight, pampered by a magical atmosphere, with traditional dishes revisited to give new flavours and sensations to the palate (many of the ingredients are produced on site, at a kilometre zero distance).
Finally, the Kneipp path, Turkish bath, steam room, emotional showers, sauna of the estate’s herbs and Finnish sauna, as well as the swimming pool with water games and a whirlpool tub enrich the spa area of the estate, where one can completely surrender to relaxation while enjoying herbal teas and delicious cookies.
